FAN ERROR

I've been printing 24 hours a day/7 days a week since assembling my new MK3 kit on Christmas. The prints have been absolutely perfect.

All of a sudden I found the printer had stopped, the screen read “FAN ERROR”. I shut everything off and cleaned up the bed and restarted the print. Again at about 9 hours into a 11 hour print the “FAN ERROR” happened again. The extruder pulled away and its temperature dropped.

Using the button, I clicked restart and and the machine restarted when the set temperature was reached. A short time later the “FAN ERROR” stopped everything. This time the requested temperature went to zero and I couldn't restart.

Up to the time this problem started, the extruder temperature seemed to be very steady at the requested temperature. Since the appearance of this problem I think the temperature varies dramatically from 207 to 212 (requested at 210).

Preheating the machine to 215/60 it is very steady at this setting, shaking any of the wire bundles does not result in temp changes. The fans seem to come on and work properly.

Re: FAN ERROR

Went on the chat to Prusa and explained my problem.

Under Ondrej's direction I went through the self test. First using the wizard with it saying the left fan error detected.

I then re-flashed the Firmware and then we repeated the test from the "Self Test" on the dashboard. This time I watched the fans as the test progressed.

First, the left fan (hot end fan started and stopped, then the screen showed "O.K.", the test continued and the front (print fan) did not move and the error indication appeared.

Ondrej concluded my problem was this fan and a new one will be sent in a day.

Although my printer is down for the moment, the experience with Prusa Support group has been great. Let's see how long it takes to get the new fan.
