Can you mount the power supply unit away from the frame of the printer
I am looking to order a Mk3 tomorrow and wondered if you can mount the power supply further away from the printer frame? I intend to build an enclosure to try and deaden the noise so that is also likely to insulate it and keep an amount of heat in the unit, and as such would worry about the PSU getting to hot.
Ah! On further inspection, if it is a similar configuration to the Mk2, it looks like the PSU is only supplying 2 sets of 2 wires to the control unit - is this the case (this is a printer on loan, not one I have assembled so I don't know the layout). Would it be possible to print off a PSU caddy from somewhere and if possible a solidworks file as then I can try to alter it to suit my enclosure.

I'm still waiting for my MK3 so I'm no expert. I've read several posts of people wanting to do the same thing and the responses are usually the following.
1. The power supply on both the MK2 and MK3 also provide support for the vertical piece "Z-axis" I think.

3. Until you've had time to calibrate and use your printer for awhile and get to know how it works don't make any modifications.
You can search on other topics using key words of your choice, but in general this is what was suggested.

I work with acoustics and that was the first thing I said to the guy that I borrowed his Mk2 from. A lot of the noise that comes from the printer is reverberation picked up by what it sits on. A heavy slab with insulation between that and the surface will be a huge factor.
However, as I want to print nylon I will make an enclosure anyway, so I will insulate that either with the foam noise absorbing tiles or mineral wool insulation. And the enclosure will not be connected to the concrete slab as it needs to be isolated!
