Re: Calibration failed, check axis and run again

I have the same issue.

I got the kit because this is my first 3D printer and I thought it would be a good way to familiarize myself with how it works in case I will need to do some maintenance on it at some point. Got it a couple of months ago but did not have time to assemble it until now.

First problem...
I'm not sure if the plastics I got is asqew or something but the left z motor would not go up unless manually assisted. Loosening all screws that hold the left z-axis motor and the top "aligner" a bit so that the z-axis could self-level itself solved that problem. Now it moves both up and down along z axis. If/when it all starts working I will check if I can retighten the loosened screws without causing problems. I would prefer not having loose screws if it can be avoided.

Second problem...
Self test worked fine but xyz calibration failed on first step (z calibration). It seems the printer was trying to push the hot end through the plate. After checking this thread I double checked the mounting of the hot end. Of course, I had installed it in the "lower" slot. I reinstalled the hot end in the correct position (it looks like it can only go in one of two positions so this should certainly be the right position). I also re-adjusted the P.I.N.D.A. probe to be the thickness of a zip tie above the hotend nozzle. Now it should work......but no. I still get the same behavior. It seems the printer expects to be able to go even lower with the hot end but the plate is in the way and the calibration fails. I don't understand what's wrong.

I had the same problem and in my case I had put the spool holder facing the front of the printer so the Z-Axis wasn't able to go all the way to the top when calibrating.
Simple fix to change the holder.

Same here. Simple fix got my xyz working (now if the &*^#! filament sensor will stop giving an error...)

Replacement filament sensor arrived, installed, and immediately fixed the problem.

Re: Calibration failed, check axis and run again

Mine is trying to keep going beyond the height of the frame, grinding for a second or two at the top... Any ideas?

That is normal. During calibration it is making sure that the printer is all the way at the top.

Mine fails right after that. It will ask if the print sheet is on, tell me to add paper. Then when the Z axis tries to go down it fails with the subject title error. I've tried resetting the black Z axis disks. Updated to firmware 3.5.2 and still have the issue.

EDIT: I'm an idiot. The PINDA sensor wasn't plugged in.

Re: Calibration failed, check axis and run again

Hey Everyone,

I think I am having this same issue with the extruder hotend being too low.

However, I installed an entirely new extruder body, so it is too low due to a hardware issue, not an installation issue.

Does anyone know how to trick this in the Firmware? I would guess the Calibration is going through a routine, and if the z-axis does not move some minimum amount, it will trigger this error.

Thanks!

RE: Calibration failed, check axis and run again

Same thing happened here. Can someone at Prusa makes this clearer in the assembly? 2 days spent loosing my mind on this thing.
