Bed MINTEMP Error during print
I have 220 hours of print time on my Mk3 and in the last 4 hours of that, I've received a "ERR: MINTEMP BED" message twice. After the first error, I updated to Firmware ver: 3.1.1 RC4 b143 as it had just been released and this was in the change log: "Improved false MINTEMP detection".
No amount of wiggling the bed cable bundle is able to cause the error to become reproducible, casting doubt on a cable break, though it is certainly possible that it is a very minor break with highly intermittent results. With this possibility in mind, is there a simple way to identify the location of such a break?
Thank you
Re: Bed MINTEMP Error during print
I had a similar issue, was printing fine for 3 days when this morning woke up to a MINTEMP BED error. After restarting, I kept getting the failure, during calibration the set point temps would drop to 0 and the print would just sit there. I updated to the latest firmware this morning from 12/30 and still had the same issue. I ended up just preheating the printer and moving the Y-Axis and I saw that when i moved it the set point temperature dropped to 0. So I took apart the connector cover on the bed and it did look like the thermostat wire had a small kink in it from the zip tie. So I actually separated it from the zip tie connection so it goes into the spiral wrap a few inches up higher. That seemed to do the trick for me as I am back up and running now.
Re: Bed MINTEMP Error during print
Thank you for the suggestion, I had left the heat bed zip tie a little bit loose and some slack on the thermistor wire for flexing but I've now removed the thermistor wire from within the zip tie and am making another attempt at a print.
Hopefully, my next reply will be in several hours reporting success.
Re: Bed MINTEMP Error during print
After a full day of print-time (~11 hours) the error has not returned. Either pulling the thermistor lead out of the bundle fixed it or the error is a fluke and occurs extremely intermittently. I'll call this a win, thank you again for the suggestion.
Re: Bed MINTEMP Error during print
Well, seems like my pre-assembled MK3 decided to give me problems to end the year. When I turned it on today, I got a Err: MINTEMP BED message on the LCD. The heatbed will not heat anymore. I checked the Rambo connections and they seem to be good, and the thermistor is still attached nicely under the bed. I think the thermistor just went bad. Please advise at your earliest convenience. Thank you very much for your help.
Re: Bed MINTEMP Error during print
I got the "MINTEMP BED" message during a print again.
I suspect a break in the thermistor wires and may end up replacing them this upcoming weekend.
Re: Bed MINTEMP Error during print
Update: I disassembled the bed thermistor leads and found a weak solder joint. I ended up replacing the 26ga leads with 24ga high-temp flexible silicone insulated leads. Hopefully, this fixes my issues.
