Assembled printer - First results

Hi,

I have spent many days reading in the forum until I finally received my assebled printer yesterday.
I was a bit worried about all problems that is written in the forum.

Background: I use Ultimaker 2+ at work and wanted something similar at home.
Purpose: I want to print some toys for my children and som electrical boxes for my hobby projects.

So far I have only printed from the included SD-card.
I will stick with printing from the SD-card because that is what I'm used to do.
Everything is better than I expected with this printer so far.

I have attached a picture of the printed boat from the SD-card. Perfect result from my point of view.

Now I will try to print my own models and see if the success will continue.

Kind regards
Martin

Excellent - any issues with the pre-assembled machine or all plain sailing?

Re: Assembled printer - First results

I just received the assembled printer in the US and the packaging was excellent, really nice foam inserts holding everything securely. The outside of the box was beat up from the long trip but the printer arrived in perfect condition and I have had no issues with it.

I printed a ~8 inch tall part just last night and checked how straight the vertical walls were. I put a square on the build platform and it was only off by about 1 or 2mm at the very top of the part so the frame is still pretty square.

Then it's finally come, my pre-built MK3.

I picked it out of the box and checked that everything looked good and all the screws were tightened. I then discovered that Y-belt-idler were loose.
The belt was so tight that I did not dare to tighten the screws more.
I unloaded the Y-belt and moved the belt one step in the belt bracket and screwed it up again. Now the belt tension was perfect.

I run the first level calibration and adjusted the Z level from -0.160 to -0.300 and then began to print various details from the SD card.
I have to say I was really pleased with the result! The printer is taken directly out of the box, a small fix with the belt tension and a small Z level adjustment, then it's only to print!

# Firmware 3.1.1-RC5-150 (installed from factory)
# Custom details sliced in Prusa Slic3r with default settings (PLA layer 0.2 mm, XYZ cube = 0.15 mm).
# Default settings in the printer
# Ambient temperature 20 ° C
# Z-level -0.300 (worked well despite low value)
# At Z = 0, the nozzle is 0.33 mm and pinda 1.73 mm above the bed (factory default)
# The level difference between nozzle and pinda will then be 1.4 mm.

The values are a bit high, but they work. Perhaps I calibrate them later.
The printer is very quiet, no click sound from PSU no click from the Bondtech gear and no other noise.
I'm simply very happy with my printer!
