Anyone has printed Eiffel tower successfully? I failed...

Last night I tried to print Eiffel tower ( https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:912478/#files ) but it failed in the middle.

I used the silver PLA came with the kit. Default setting with added brims.

The extruder gears started to slip (click sound) when printing after the waist platform. I then increased the nozzle temp to 230 then no more click. But the pillar structures were so thin that they shifted and collapsed and I needed to stop the printing.

Anyone have luck printing this torture test successfully with MK3 ? And how?

Thank you for the information.

Really want to see it be done with MK3.

Massive tower in fact might be easier to print as the fine structures will be magnified.

I believe MK3 can do it with some adjustments to the slicer or printer settings. Just want to know how.

Hearing your description and looking at the top layer, it is likely due to a badly clogged nozzle - as I've recently stumble into that issue myself.

Checking whether it is the case:
1. With the same filament, heat up to 230c and perform the load filament procedure while the filament is loaded. Check how the filament is extruded - if the plastic extrusion is severely curved or curled up to the nozzle. It is clogged.

Try using the acupuncture needle provided and see whether you can clear out the clog that way.

2. If still having printing problems, follow the manual on undoing/replacing the nozzle and check whether are there filament sticking to the wall of the nozzle and whether light passes through the home of the nozzle.

This would be a serious clog and can be easily fixed with an acetone bath + putting the nozzle through a fire to clean it out thoroughly. (* which happened to me)

Hope that helps.

Last time I used Simplify3d, it failed.
This time I cleaned the nozzle then used Slic3r PE.

99% complete (see the tip) but loss some fine details and lots of stringing.

Anyway a step forward....

just a suggestion, try prusa control. I tried it just for color change and the prints come out so much better than cura or even slic3r PE
