3.1.3 Firmware - Lin_Advance (Print Problem)

How easy is it to enable Lin_Advance in the newest firmware?

I've never messed with the Prusa firmware before so don't want to mess it up, I bet someone has already done this, if they wouldn't mind sharing the .Hex file.

I'm having problems with printing a benchy. its all pretty much perfect except where it seems, the solid infill meets the perimeters which is causing issues on the outside perimeters. the issue is showing up mainly on the hull around the 30min print time. I've reduced overlap to 0% and its still there, I've tried Slic3r and S3D and its prominent in both. ill post some pictures later on, its really bugging me.

I'm thinking Lin_advance will help to reduce nozzle pressure as it approaches the end on the line to turn onto the next.

I'm pretty sure I have calibrated the extrusion multiplier quite well also.

Any help or thoughts would be great

Take a look at this thread: Linear Advance, is it coming back?

Here is some unofficial compiled firmwares with LA enabled.

Have a look at my models on Printables.com 😉

Did you ever get this resolved? I'm seeing the same thing (and I am using LA). It seems worse on the PETG filament I've tried, but my silver Benchy looks identical to yours.

Thanks.

No I haven’t, I’m still battling it. Maybe LA isn’t the answer, I’m going to try some different prints today.

Something I have noticed was looking at pictures online other people have the same problem in the same places with that model

I am rolling 3.2.0 alpha with LIN_ADVANCE and stepper linearity correction enabled and hand calibrated. Also all R2 parts. Getting the best prints I have gotten off the MK3 so far, but still have that same line on 3D benchy.

Not sure what's causing it. Seems to happen around the layers where the deck is laid down. Maybe different movement is causing backlash or something?

Is that why my benchy is coming out like this? (I know there's strings, I was focusing on fixing just the lines, 1 variable at a time.)

I've been pulling my hair out. The benchy that came on the SD card print flawlessly, but if I download it and run it through slic3r PE, I get those lines. It's also very prominent on PETG.

i'm just printing something, its gone past the point where the lines are problematic, i'm sure its to do with the solid infill layers. what i'm now printing has no solid infill and looks fine so far. Im thinking its slicer related probably.

Im going to use the firmware you pointed me to after it finishes.

this is my second printer so i have a far bit of experience but this is annoying the hell out of me now haha.

Hows the new firmware looking?

my next port of call is the SD card files to see the outcome also

This one was printed in Black PETG from the sdcard and sliced with slic3rpe. I’m not seeing the same line, just a little roughness at the bottom of the bow.

no i cant see the line either, i've reset the original profiles and doing another if its still there, then SD file to see the difference.

Its probably something silly i'm doing, i was just worried it was something wrong with the printer

So if the SD card gcode is printing fine, but slic3rPE generated gcode gives us the lines, how do we go about finding the difference between the gcodes so we can make the necessary changes in slic3r?

It's the model. With S3D, MK2S and 20mm/s I'm getting the same results. Check this thread and the blue benchy

Jesus I wasted a large amount of filament if it's just the model and not the printer/slic3r.

When I calibrated the extrusion width I wasn’t getting anything near what I expected, if I printed one permitter I wanted 0.45, I was getting way under, I figured this was down to the S211 S95 in the start gcode.

Rather than push the multiplayer right up To get the correct width I changed it to s211 s100, and the proceeded to calibrate in the way I always have giving me an extrusion multiplayer of 1.07 @ 0.45. I thought it was all good, apparently not...

I’ve since reset me profiles and since it’s changed back to S211 S95 and the problem has gone, clearly it’s just over extrusion but what I don’t understand is how are you actually meant to calibrate the extrusion multiplier if the flow is at 95%.

Interesting...here's a benchy I printed last month at 150% size with the same line. Could it be slic3r?

It would be interesting to see one without that line, is it this model, printer or slic3r?? It’s getting complicated now! I know there’s some clever people here who can help

Re: 3.1.3 Firmware - Lin_Advance (Print Problem)

I resliced and it looks like this happens when it starts building the wall and where the deck level is. I guess it's not the slicer but extra filament pushing out?
