Looks good. Would you mind to share what you've done so far to get the improved Benchy? I think here are some MK3 user which can't believe it was printed on MK3 😉

So I did calibrate the filament taking the diameter

I also calibrate the extrusion multiplier using the single wall method and found that to be 1.07. this was done with printer firmware flow at 100% as per all instruction online. since resetting my PRUSA profiles back to stock it put the firmware flow @ 95% this has helped with the excess plastic on solid infill. It would be good if it was possible to reduce the flow just for solid infill but I don't know if that's possible or not.

I also changed...
solid infill extrusion width to 0.4 (I don't know if a bit less is possible could be worth a try...)
infill overlap to 15%
reduced external permitted to 25mm/s
reduced solid infill speed to 80, I think a bit slower would be better to keep nozzle pressure down
(I think dropping all speeds a bit wouldn't' be a bad)

and I think the most important thing is to have LA

im going to tune like this at the weekend http://marlinfw.org/docs/features/lin_advance.html

what's your value for infill/parameters overlap? (In Slic3r under "Advanced" in the Print settings tab)
Early versions of the MK3 settings had 35% which Josef called to be way to high and reduced it to 25% some time ago. This led to the infill showing up on the outside of thin perimeter shells sometimes. In on of the recent versions of Slic3r (1.39.1 alfa in my case) the value was back to 35% in some profiles, might be worth to check.

Mine is 25% in Slic3rpe 1.39.1

When LA got introduced for MK2S firmware, I reduced the value to 15%. Have been using that value since on my MK2S with no problems.

Have a look at my models on Printables.com 😉

Looks like I may get a chance to do some testing later today. I believe the reason LA is having an effect on this is just a reduced amount of filament that is being squished along the perimeters. Ideally we can find a low enough infill/perimeter overlap percentage to fix this with both LA enabled/disabled.

Re: 3.1.3 Firmware - Lin_Advance (Print Problem)

So, tried the following tests after having success with top layers turned off:

  • 20% infill overlap, No effect,

  • 15% infill overlap, No effect,

  • 10% infill overlap, No effect...
  • Started noticing in you guys' pics, some of you have the line on both sides but to less effect. I have only ever had it on one side and pretty heavily, the side facing the rear of the printer. I have another test printing now, but rotated so my "good" side is facing the rear of the machine now. If the line swaps to that side, I think we may be looking at a cooling issue and maybe the deck infill is either A) holding the side wall where it needs to be and layers above it sag from not being cooled effectively (my guess), or B) maybe too much heat is building up on one side and causing it to curl upward a little to make the same effect.

Rotating moved the artifact from one side to the other, the side facing the rear of the machine gets the artifact in my case. Finding a new fan nozzle I guess.

I don’t think over lap does much, I set it to zero with no effect, definitely on solid infill anyway it seems but I can see a slight change on infill

Tried another fan nozzle (one that hits all sides of the nozzle) and the problem disappeared. I don't like the nozzle though, gonna start trying a few different ones and see what I can come up with. Can confirm this is a cooling issue though. 🙂
