0.3mm still worth for big objects?
Hello, With MK3 0.3mm Layer Height gone from Slic3r, because 0.2mm already have the maximum feed rate, still can worth create the 0.3mm profile (clone from 0.2mm) and increate it to 0.3mm? Objective is faster printing large objects.

I would say so. I use 0.3mm on ky Prinrbot all the time when making objects that do mot have detail (i.e washers).
I assume that 0.3mm is 33% faster than 0.2mm as it would print 1/3 less layers.

Incorrect. The Prusa when printing at speed, pushes near max flow with 0.2mm. And 0.3mm is well past the flow-limit. Josef actually removed the 0.3mm profile from Slic3r PE, because the .2mm layer profile was the same speed or faster I think... I'll see if I can find where Josef posted that.

Incorrect. The Prusa when printing at speed, pushes near max flow with 0.2mm. And 0.3mm is well past the flow-limit. Josef actually removed the 0.3mm profile from Slic3r PE, because the .2mm layer profile was the same speed or faster I think... I'll see if I can find where Josef posted that.
Volumetric flow max is only reached when printing infill at high speed, other parts like perimeter, curves, first layer, etc. will print faster in 0.3mm.

Agreed, there are still many situations where .3mm is viable, and does offer a marked reduction in print time. Bonus, the MK3 produces fantastic results at .3mm also. The majority of my prints are at .3mm layer height. I have created a separate profile in Slic3r PE that is .3mm height, and uses widths between .5mm & .7mm, it produces very strong parts, in a much shorter time. Note that most of my prints are more mechanical in function, and not detailed models.

Personally, I created a 0.25mm profile for big parts. I then keep some good overhang capabilities. External perimeter width set to 0.6mm to go to 50° overhang with 50% cover of the previous layer.
As I mainly print PETG now instead of ABS for chemical resistance and PETG is limited to 10mm3/s, I don't loose too much time with 0.25 layer height.

So you copied the 0.2mm profile and only change Height and External perimeter?

I still not tried the new alpha release of slic3r PE which include a new accurate printing time but I would then tweak my values easily to see the impact of parameters on time.
My 0.25 profile for now:
If you do ABS or PLA, there is more gain with 0.3 profile.

I think PR still uses 0.3 mm layer height in their printer farm. At least my MK3 parts are 0.3 - although we don't know how much of a buffer they have on printed parts.

The .35mm FAST profile is still available in Slic3r PE, if you click the green flag to access the incompatible presets.
I took the .35mm, brought it down to .30mm.
Then on the advanced settings:
Default width: .5
First Layer: .5
Perimeters: .5
External Perimeters: .6
Infill: .7
Solid Infill: .7
Top: Solid Infill: .5
Overlap : 25%
It really squirts out the plastic, but does a great job on structural parts.

Great i will test that preset soon, for Vases and 0% infill 0.3mm will benefit right?
