Send a “File opened: …” message on start of the print so Octoprint detects print start

Octopi RC 1.3.7 includes a new feature:

OctoPrint will now detect prints from SD started through your printer’s built-in controller, if the firmware fulfills a couple of requirements:
it must send a “File opened: …” message on start of the print
it must respond to an immediately sent M27 with SD printing byte <current>/<total>
it must stay responsive during ongoing print to allow for regular M27 polls (or push those automatically) or M25 to pause/cancel the print through OctoPrint. Additionally there’s now support for SD status autoreport capabilities by the firmware.

You can read about the release here:
https://discourse.octoprint.org/t/new-release-candidate-1-3-7rc1/388

I would love for prusa firmware to support that.

Thanks!

I'm using 1.3.7rc2 and it's working great with the MK3. I start the print on the printer (so I have power failure save) and octoprint is picking up that the print has started almost flawlessly. I've only had one print detect, but then octoprint timed out because of some communication hiccup.

I'll change from working great, to working some of the time. Sometimes the printer seems to stop all communication to octoprint shortly after starting a print, causing octoprint to time out https://github.com/foosel/OctoPrint/issues/2510#issuecomment-376711296
