Replace the E3D v6 Lite with a full E3D v6....

Hi all,
Well I messed up the threads on the lite when I had to clean a clog. So i got a full E3D v6 to replace it.
I have it all installed (meaning I just used the same wiring and just plugged in the new parts) and when I turn it on now, the temp reads over 700 lol.
So there is something else that I need to change/do to make this work.
I am trying to go through past threads and all but can't seem to locate anything.

Anyone do this?

Thanks

Hi Scott, did you replace the Firmware by the version dedicated to E3D V6 ?

Choosing the right firmware Example: 1_75mm-RAMBo13a-E3Dv6lite.hex
Filament types: Determines what type of filament is your printer using. There are two options: - 1_75mm represents 1.75mm filament (latest and in use) - 3mm represents 3mm filament (no longer used)
Electronic types: RAMBo 1.3a RAMBo 1.0a RAMBo13a
Hotend types: Determines what type of hotend is your printer using. There are three options:
- E3Dv6lite represents E3D v6Lite hotend (latest and in use)
- E3Dv6full represents E3D v6full hotend (only if you upgraded the printer yourself, in nonstandard folder)
- PrusaNmk2 represents Prusa Nozzle MK2 hotend for 3mm filament (no longer used)
Filament type Electronics type Hotend type

Hmm that i didn't do yet.
I do have version 2.2.4 but that is the lite version.. found the full under Non-Standard.
Thanks!
Also the thermistor was shot and I had to put the new one on.

And thank you very much! I knew there was a step I was missing!
Just did the firmware update.. now to test it out.

Thanks for catching that one!

Hi Gents

High temp reading such as this means thermistor is short circuit (as you already found out Scott). Temps too low mean an open circuit.

In either event the printer will not operate.

The thermistor is an NTC type (negative temp coef.) so as the temperature rises, the resistance reduces and should read 200 KOhm at 25 degrees C.

There is also no need to upgrade the firmware; the only difference between V6 and Lite6 firmware is the maximum temp (from memory 285 vs 260), so unless you really need the extra heat, there is no point in changing.

I have another little issue that bugs me to no end.
I have the bed heater plugged in.. seems to work then all of a sudden decides to not heat up anymore.
But if i play around with the plug it decides to work again. Something is up with the plug used for the board.
Very frustrating.

scott

check the cables on both ends , If they are soldered good and not cut of , and if they are tights in screw terminal of that jack . It might burn out if there is going to be a loose conection.

Hi Scott,

Maybe you should unplug the heatbed, use a multimeter to check if the heatbed resistance change if you manipulate the cable. If that's the case, the cable is probably damaged.

In addition, you could unscrew the cable from the connector, check the soldered wire, screw it back, ensuring it's well tight, and try it again.

If I would buy as spare part from E3D-ONLINE, is it this one?

Thank you in advance for any support,

Paolo

Yes this one is the one that comes with your printer LiteV6

this is the termistor.
