PRUSA blackPC Edition

Kickohr proudly presents :

The PRUSA blackPC Edition 😀

Printed all parts in black Polycarbonate (PC plus), except the Rambo-cover, the PSU-cover and the LCD-cover.

Will print my LCD-cover in ESD-safe ABS (of course in black).

I found a nice display at Chinese ebay.

Yes, really white characters on black background 😎 Perfect for the blackPC Edition :geek: Looks like an OLED, but it isn't.

don't think Thomas believes that it'll print better due to the color of the parts... but it looks cool and has a personal touch.

but beside the color, you may see at his pictures that he uses some altered parts, like the whole extruder with the 40x40 print fan and the modified air flow channel. or his x-carriage, where he mounted the igus bearings with housing...

dem inscheniör is' nix zu schwör...

It prints much better with the black color ! It's like an replicator on spaceship Enterprise

Nonsens !

I searched for a orange colored Polycabonate but I didn't found one, except on Chinese ebay.

There are some improved parts :

- the complete extruder body (all parts are modified)
- x-carriage (igus RJZM-01-08) and fixed the bug that the belt is rubbing on the x-end idler
- x-end motor (igus RJZM-02-08)
- x-end idler (igus RJZM-02-08)
- y-axis clips for igus RJZM-01-08
- 3 point y-motor holder
- y-motor brace
- improved y-idler
- improved y-belt holder (now available with the MK2s)
- alternative PSU holder
- strain relief for x-motor
- z-axis top bearing (for testing, not tested until now)
- filament guide
- filament filter
- extruder idler screws button
- tool holder for z-frame

When you print your LCD cover you may want to use the Color Change feature as I did here. Change to white was at .80, back to black at 2.15

The black wire in front is the endoscope camera. The Pinda is at the same position as usual.

ESD safe LCD cover 😎

Yes, there are still some parts not in black Polycarbonate 😮

Now I will give the "old" new extruder fan design another try. Problem was an overextrusion with the new 0.9° extruder motor.

Prints very nice Benchy's 🙂

Re: PRUSA blackPC Edition

How did you get the x-carriage to print without warping with the PC-Plus? I have tried everything I can think of in an enclosed printer 260 print temp and 110 bed. Freshly washed PEI. Always get the warping on the long sides.

Use ordinary glue stick and a 5mm brim 😉

You are a genius. It worked perfectly. I wonder why they don't mention this on their instructions. Side note, does this work for most PCs or just PC-Plus?

Second question, how much did you scale up the model to account for the PC-Plus shrinkage? 0.5% or somewhere around there?

Re: PRUSA blackPC Edition

Gluestick is the means of choice for all warping problems 😉

I don't know if this is advisable for all PC's, I only use PC-Plus & PC-Max. I also do not rescale the model.

The PRUSA blackPC edition evolves !

Still waiting for the MK2.5 upgrade kit, so I do an modified BEAR-mod. It's also modified because I didn't get precutted v-slot extrusion here in Germany. So I use the I-type 20x40. It's the same extrusion as my YAC housing.

Mounting the drilling helpers (modified !) :

Drilling the frame, the position of the holes moved 2mm outside and 2mm in height as the original BEAR-upgrade :

Premounting the new frame. All printed parts are adapted to the I-type extrusion and I use metallic corners with printed caps/feet :

Mounting the PRUSA frame :

and the heatbed, also the modified z-motor holder :

I also modified the PSU-case and the y-belt holder.

Printer in action :

You can download all modified parts from thingiverse. It's a complete set.
