PLA Extruder Body

Is there any extruder mount that can be printed in PLA ?
Would like a backup mount but don't want to buy ABS just for this piece...

May be possible with this PLA:

bioFila plaTec

If you have a laser temp gun, take the temp of the extruder ABS plastic when pre-heating, does it go over 115C / 239F ?

Can anyone with a FLIR device take a reading?

Re: PLA Extruder Body

the biofila platec filament even has a higher vicat-temperature than most of the abs stuff, so it would be the best choice for the extruder body.
but it's quite expensive !

if you've got a reliable fan to cooldown the coldend of your extruder, the temperature of the extruder body shouldn't exceed 55°C "in normal operation mode", so even standard pla would do.
but if you print inside an enclosure, or a very hot environment, i would rather choose the safer option with platec or abs.

Hmm Guess its worth it to get a roll of that.
Although Can I order the parts printed in that from somewhere, the prusa shop?
Probably won't need the whole roll... Also is it easy to print?

it's very easy to print... like pla.
i used to print it at 215/55°C. no warping, perfect layer bonding (at this temperature).
but it sticks like hell at the printbed.

so it's a good idea to add "mouse-ears" to the *.stl file, so that you've got something from which you can start to lift it off from the pei sheet, like in this picture:
