My hacked filament holder / Setup
While not a improvement to the printer here's my filament holder (rough as it is).
Printing is a prototype Sonos alarm clock. Completely open-source. When I'm done I'll share...
The hair elastics are holding my extruder cables higher as they tended to rub against my prints. I need to find a better way to solve this but will wait until I assemble the rambo housing from http://shop.prusa3d.com/forum/improvements-f14/housing-for-rambo-t253.html because that housing moves the cable anyway.
I want better access to the rambo board and this housing flips from the original.

That looks good, but you must try to get the filament you are currently using in the middle so that the tension on the filament is pretty stable.
Using the blue filament from the left, when the extruder is on the right, there is more tension, so slightly less filament may be extruder at that side. This is one reason why the Bowden system is very popular.

Thanks. I'll watch for that and prob change my setup. My 10 year old daughter wants to change colours every minute. I think she needs her own printer.

Or you can print a filament guide that clips on the top bar of the printer. Check Thingiverse.

That's a nice setup, but I would personally not recommend having your filaments out in the open all the time. They are pretty good at sucking out the moisture from the surrounding air, and will affect your print quality negatively. Store them in a sealable bag or a container with some desiccants (silica gel)

Everyone, thanks for all comments. I'm now storing my filament in zip-lock bags with the silica gel packets that came with them. Also using a filament guide [ http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:755008 ] to help keep it centered with respect to the extruder. Keeping the filament stand in the background as its still an easy way to load spools.
