Hi,

i started building my LACK enclosure :

i have chosen to extend the legs about 10cm. The legs are emtpy, only each side are solid, so i keep them (i have 2x LACK Table so 8 legs available):

assembly:

Next episode !

All legs are assembled:

i fixed legs to the table:l

Then i attached Aluminium profile to the legs and cut bulkhead (3 bulkhead will be in wood panel and the other bulkhead in plexiglas) :

Have you got any good ideas that i can add to my design ?

Cya.

Nice. I love build logs 😀

I just have one suggestion. Do you think it would be good to fill the legs with sand? It would make them heavier and the sand could dampen the vibrations.

Hi, thank you for your reply. I don't think that sand dampen the vibration, it's a tough material and may conduct vibrations, not sure.... I would prefer to inject polyurethane foam in the feet, right ?

Indeed, i have to deal with vibrations, therefore, i buy a cheap slab (1cm thickness), i cut it in the corne to fit well:

Finally, today, i painted the box and put wheel on the base:

Re: IKEA LACK PRUSA MK2 ENCLOSURE

thank you for sharing this build. I ordered my i3 mk2s last week, waiting for it to arrive. Might as well start building my enclosure.
Went to Ikea today to buy 2 lack tables.

In one of your posts you wrote
>>i have chosen to extend the legs about 10cm.

Why?

Do you have a mk2 or a mk2s? I am wondering about the dimensions. How tall is the mk2s without the spool holder.

Re: IKEA LACK PRUSA MK2 ENCLOSURE

Im in the same boat; waiting for my Mk2s, and considering building an enclosure. I want to hinge it so, I can get flip the entire top open, but then the filament spool on top is no longer a good idea. So Im considering putting the filament roll below the printer, or next to it, and use some PTFE tube to guide it in.

Im also wondering, if someone knows of 3D model of a complete Mk2? It would help me designing the box.

My goal is to create something like this
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2012384 or this https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2212749

Also, I want to store my filament in an airtight box and place it on top of the table, with a hole to go to the printer

Awesome build jean-baptiste!

I went the fabricated route and can completely recommend this; https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1814763

I tried the others with lacking levels of success. These gave me the distance (Z axis) that I wanted for large items. Here is my build

.

I tweaked hinges and handles, and printed grommets for filament and power.

I really like the LED placement on your build. 🙂 Thanks for sharing!

I like the ideas you guys have come up with!
I made something 'same same but different' out of urethane foam sheets and a food dehydrator... will share it here one day too 🙂

Do you have a link for hinges you used?

Re: IKEA LACK PRUSA MK2 ENCLOSURE

The Lack tables by themselves are too short. I printed standoffs:

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2012384

And wish it was another two inches taller. Also wanted the filament in an enclosure so I repeated the design again.

Not sure this will work with my coming MMU and wish all the dimensions were a bit larger, but the LACK does work nice.

Any advices given are offered in good faith. It is your responsibility to ensure that by following my advice you do not suffer or cause injury, damage or loss. If you solve your problem, please post the solution…

RE: IKEA LACK PRUSA MK2 ENCLOSURE

I am about to build a Ikea Lack enclosure for my printer, using these parts....    https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2864118

Should I be printing in PLA or PETG?
