Forum re-organisation

Great to see the effort going in to splitting out the forum to focus support threads to the specific machines. Well done to the support team / mods / superusers doing the work.

Re: Forum re-organisation

The idea is good, but in my opinion, the board is now too disrupted. Searching became harder.

- MK2, MK2S, MK2.5 are too similar to have distinct sections. Too many mods and other issues can be applied to both. They should share a common section.

- "Printing help" for each machine? Really? The problems and solutions will hardly depend on the printer.

- How many sections will be there if we get the MK4 ? Too many I think.

Re: Forum re-organisation

I find search easier because I can now search within the specific subforum for the machine I have. True there are many threads with cross relevance such as the life Z and hyperfine bed tuning but they will get cross referenced within the appropriate machine specific threads.

Re: Forum re-organisation

A total of 42 subsections with many identical/similar topics?

IMHO that are way to many. I think that makes it way harder, especially for newcomers, to clearly find solutions to problems. But that's just my opinion. We will see how it works.

Re: Forum re-organisation

I like the new sections. I have a Mk2S and a 3. I can quickly get to threads that apply to my situation and ignore a lot of threads that have no interest to me without having to read through everything.

MK2S & Mk3 my mini farm is alive 😆

Re: Forum re-organisation

There were different points of view before the forum was re formatted.
I for one. Tend to use the new posts option and the search function. Most of the time.
And the my posts option to revisit answers i have already given...

Your mileage may vary.

Re: Forum re-organisation

I liked being able to just browse the forums with a bookmark folder of ~5 tabs. I've seen some forums have the main subsection (i.e. Mk3) show all of the posts for the subsections inside, and then you can click a subsection to see only those posts. The way it's broken up now may make requests for help less visible to people with answers who are casually browsing.

Re: Forum re-organisation

We were testing several options and finally decided for Josef's idea, which might seem to detailed, but I think is best so far.

Experienced users will always find their way around, but beginners and less experienced users the previous layout caused a struggle to find their section. I'm currently moving old threads to the new layout and I see how many of them are completely out of place or same questions asked over and over again. I hope this amount will be lowered down as much as possible with the new layout.

@Jakub.d I really missing here this listing function: View unread posts - it can saves so much time.
