One of the problems I had with the MK2S was that there is very little room for the cables coming out of the extruder to spread out horizontally. It took several attempts to get them bound up properly so they were all lined up and little wider than the cable support plastic piece that is supplied. It might be worth creating a part that will hold each of the wires and extend them out past the point where they could bump against the power supply or the electronics box while keeping them orderly. Alternatively, you could dismount the electronics box and the power supply, but it seems much nicer the way it is. I may try designing a part to do that job once I have more experience with the printer.

What it needs is a slimline connector on the back of the extruder, and a connector on the outside of the Rambo. That way, when cable breakage occurs, you can plug in the replacement cable and get going again in a minute. The repair the cable when it suits, or just make or buy a new cable assembly, because usually several cables start to break around the same time.

I've repaired the cables to fans, PINDA probe, heat sensor and heating element and they are starting to fail again, this time at the extruder and at the RAMBO end.

The cables should also be a little bit longer, that would reduce the bending at the ends very considerably and they would last many times longer.

It may never be an issue for anyone printing little objects in the middle of the print bed, but I use the entire x,y and often also z range for most prints. In that case, the cables only seem to last a few weeks.

Maybe you should try more flexible cables. A few years back I was helping my brother with an LED prop for his LARP costume and since I knew there would be a lot of movement on the cables, I was looking for the most flexible wires I could find. In the end I found one that was so flexible, it felt more like a piece of string. But I don't know if it would last longer on a printer.

That's an idea. I might try silicone insulated multi-strand wires. Those are meant to deal with flexing.

Is the PINDA probe light (on th etop of the probe) 'ON' when the printer has just been turned on and in standby?

I'm trying to fins where the cable is broken again.....

When I try to print, or in the self test, the z-axis rattles wildly and reports a 'Wiring error Z'.

Yes it should be on, to answer my own question....I found where it is broken.
