Enclosure size

New user here. I was thinking getting a desk for prusa, but then i thought i could make a cabinet to house prusa and have a drawer or two for supplies. Can someone list the max dimensions o the printer?

Re: Enclosure size

I went with 50x50x50cm for my "box", but ended up removing the LCD anyway. It also allowed me to mount a spool holder inside and it could've been a tad smaller on the X... Eh, it aint pretty, but it does the job:

I started sketch with 50x50x64. I want to make a bar accross for the spools to fit inside as well. Would that be a bad idea? How much more do you think I need on the x to fit with the console attached?
I will basically use cabinet laminate to build the cabinet and put some tempered glass or pc at the front. I see people mounting fans, whats that for?

Re: Enclosure size

I am not at the place where the printer is, so i can't measure, but from memory i'd say 55cm would've been enough to fit with the console mounted, it was a close call at 50cm. If the heatbed cable weren't sticking out that much, 50cm would've been fine too. (I didn't want it to touch the back wall). I think I'll end up attaching the lcd console on the outside.

Even at 50x50x50 I was able to add that bar that holds a standard 1kg spool. Close, but it works and doesn't touch the extruder wires during printing. So if you're planning on 64cm high, you'll have more than plenty of room.

Addition of fans is prolly to make sure to keep air flow going, one reason is fear that the rambo & power supply might get too warm, another reason could be that PLA for example prints better if the chamber doesn't get heated up too much. That's also why I got the open sides on top (I have no interest in printing anything but PLA with the MK2). I will eventually print some sort of duct for the cutout at the side panel where the power supply is, but didnt get around to it yet. Not seeing any temperature issues at all, so this might get delayed further 😉

Re: Enclosure size

Good info, thanks. I will get free spool of pla but I ordered a bunch of petg from prima3d. I need something that can be used mechanically. Basically all colors plus 10m of nilon and a 19eur sample kit with carbon, wood etc filaments.
Now that I think I probably will go with mdf base with a drawer and order to cut some perspex to form a box with door and vents. I dont want to loose that motion sexyness.
