Considering upgrading the heater bed connection to Rambo board

I have read molex connector for the heater bed may melt if the connection is not secure.

I want to solder the heatbed wires to the PCB from the backside, in addition to keeping the molex connecton so their are two parallel pathways for the current.

I think this would be helpful when running high bed temperatures especially on colder days.

Thanks for any feedback in advance,
Dave

Did you end up doing the direct solder? I didn't even know this was an issue, just started looking into it since my burnt up http://shop.prusa3d.com/forum/original-prusa-i3-mk2-f23/heated-bed-connector-burned-crispy-o--t2414.html

If you did could you get some pics? If Prusa doesnt cover this under warranty ( which would be absurd if you ask me ) I guess I'll do the same.

I soldered the connection on my Mk1 and I believe that PR supplied later full-builds with the connection soldered as well.

It's not difficult to do if you can use a soldering iron. Simply reflow the terminals on the underside of the board with fresh (leaded) solder, cut and strip about 6mm of the heater cables and tin with solder. Then hold one cable over one terminal and heat with iron. The solder will flow between the two parts and form a good joint. Do the same with the other wire/terminal and replace board.

Thanks, I ended up doing this after I posted early this morning. 3D printing is new'ish to me, soldering and electronics are old hat though 😉
