Color purge block parts

Hi all,

I am looking forward to getting my MK2 with color add on. This will be my first printer. I have been watching Youtube reviews and tests to get familiar with it while waiting it's arrival. One thing I notice is the large quantity of waste going to the purge block. I would love to see a feature which would allow
"Rainbow" parts to be made from this waste. It could be from a personalized library for things to be made in which the color does not need to be specified. They could be the "Tie Dye" parts! Even dimensional blocks or leggo type toys... Thank you for the consideration.

Best,
Guy

It's a nice idea, but wouldn't they look like crap?

Not the color effect, just... You'd be extruding random lengths of different mixing filaments, probably often times onto a part which has had variable lengths of time to cool. Your layer adhesion would be inconsistent, your surface finish would be ghastly...

But yeah, I'd totally be on board with a waste tower being legos... That would be infinitely simplier to implement, one would think.

Well anything's possible. But I guess you would have to ask the developers...

Re: Color purge block parts

Don't know if its feasible, but why not purging inside the model, i.e. as 100% infill?
And if the infill doesn't provide enough length to finish the purge sequence for that layer, only then move outside to do the rest with a block.

That would look amazing with transparent filaments. 😉
