Changeable Extruder Style

Hi,

I created a changeable mk3 https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2742381 extruder style and also for mk2 https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2558425 and I made these so that it is compatible with other users too.

My intention was that there are those who wanted to transition between bowden, mmu and direct extruder style but had to reprint the full body over and over again, not to mention re-arranging the wires, swapping the electronics to the new body again and another calibration process.

This of course, just leave the hotend part alone and you can just change the extruder style to your liking.

I myself used the changeable mk2 style on a custom machine and now using the changeable mk3 on that same machine. Although I myself kind of lazy to keep changing between extruder style.

What do you guys think?

Never knew that is something people like to do. I can swap my nozzle assembly from 0.25mm to 0.4mm in 5 minutes after switching to inline connectors a month into my MK2S ownership. I see no reason to swap MMU back to standard, flex extruder is covered with MK2.5. What do you do that requires a quick-swap extruder mount?

I think your first link is a blatant advertisement and unrelated to the discussion.

Sorry, I didn't notice I pasted the dollo3d into that post as I was using the dollo3d link to reply on somewhere else. I've changed the link to the proper changeable mk3. I didn't intend to promote that dollo3d though.

The original intention was to have a pick and mix style and if the user decides to do keep changing between them it is up to them actually. I often go with the idea of going modular where each parts were broken into small printable parts and it is easy with quick print if there's a problem occur.

Printing a direct mk3 extruder might require at least 3 hours and there's a chance of peeling off during the prints too, might be serious depending on the peeling levels.

On link, figured it was a flub. On changeable extruder style, I was hoping for a more interesting answer than "fail-print" anxiety. Really, you're not doing some crazy Bowden/direct hybrid mid print filament swap station add on using MMU code to drive it? Damn, I was hoping someone had gotten farther than I had. Joking bro.

heheh... you could, generete 2 gcodes from direct and bowden side, and mash them up. Only drawbacks is the linear advanced, and the extruder motor as the wires are fixed instead of removable like the conventional ones. I somewhat hoped prusa used the removable wires instead of builtin wires though
