Won't extrude without a little pressure
Hello all, I browsed around and followed steps on correcting it but I'm still having issues. Just recently I've been having issues where the gears are moving but extruder won't push any filament until I apply a little bit of pressure. I've cleared the nozzle and I've done cold pulls. Any thoughts?

Photos of the issue or a .3mf of the model in ZIP format having issues would help filter out silly mistakes we all make.
And, more general info will help, too. What printer? What filament? What nozzle size? What bed type? When did the problem start - have you switched filaments recently or trying a new brand of filament? Etc.

You're absolutely right, my bad.
MK3S, Prusament Silver PLA, .4nozzle, smooth pei sheet currently.
I have having issues when I was having adhesion issues on Signal White PETG, got tired of it failing and switched to Hatchbox PLA white. I haven't had a successful print since. Should I just dismantle and inspect? Lol tried avoiding that.

Temperature and filament are these correct?
Does the printer make a noise? Wen it's failing.
Check the manual how to set the spring of extruder.
Check extruder gears if these are correct installed, check if pin in the gear is not loose on one side because the pin was not set in the middle wen building(mk3 build).
Do cold pull with high temperature filament.

Sounds like a good filament purge and cold pull should get you running again. Use the Prusa cold pull procedure, folks seem to have good luck following it.
Regarding adhesion on the smooth plate, soap and hot water works. Most everything else doesn't: especially with PLA. PETG usually grabs too hard, like superglue; but there are some that are less tacky than PLA. Again, an ultra clean PEI sheet is key.

-Default temp settings for Prusament PLA via PrusaSlicer.
-Nope, zero noise and seems to be operating without any stresses. Except not pulling filament down.
-Checking the extruder gear was my next step, couldn't remember to how to move them. I'll look into the settings.
-Didn't think about cold pull with high temp. What would be the benefit of that opposed to reg PLA?

I tried some purge filament that I had for rainy days and didn't seem to help. Doesn't mean doing it again wouldn't help. I'll try again.

Run some PLA through at 260c, let things cool down, then do a series of cold pulls. This usually gets the old plastic out of the nozzle.

Ok, just did and no change.
I'm confused a little as to what else it could be without taking it all apart (maybe that what I need to do). After the cold pulls I tried loading filament and it wasn't accepting it wihtout a little help. But when I unload filament, it will remove it without any issue so that makes me think the gears are ok.
Am I wrong?

Am I missing something? why hasn't anyone suggested maybe tightening the idler screw a bit ?

Most of us assume the simpler things listed in the manual have been tried before the OP comes in asking for help. But good point.

I'm guilty of that myself, but after a bit of time here I've noticed that a reasonable amount of the folks coming in for help are very new to printing and there machines, as well I think more young people and its made me rethink my responses. I now try to gauge my response based on my perception of the persons experience level, I don't want to sound condescending to someone who already knows, yet that same information might be exactly what the new person needs.
But this brings up a great point, I've been thinking about some kind of list or a post that new users can be directed to that would instruct them on some basic information that would be very helpful for expediting a good response
what kind of filament, what brand, what printer, what bed type, oh BTW a good picture or two would be helpful or better yet, if possible a .3mf instead of playing 50 questions we can just look at the settings and get right to it. etc,,
I'm just not sure how to implement it here or if people would even like it.
