Vertical bands on smooth walls

Maybe I’m being too critical here, but I’m noticing very regular vertical banding patterns on what should be smooth flat walls. Here is a photo: can any one suggest what parameters I need to tune to improve this?

This is being printed in spiral vase mode with a 0.8mm extrusion line on a 0.6mm nozzle.

RE: Vertical bands on smooth walls

I'm no expert on this but it looks like its picking up the start of each layer and printing in spiral vase will move each start round. It also looks like your upper part has a curve which accentuates that? Also the extrusion line is pretty thick. I got decent results on large parts using a 0.6 nozzle and 0.2mm extrusion. Speed of print was fine as well.

I see vertical lines on the cylindrical objects I've printed but take it as part of the limitations of the extruder movement and the lay up of material. As i my prints have thicker walls I don't think i can use spiral vase?

To me the print looks fine.
There is visible segments of straight lines forming the curves, this is normal as STL format only supports lines. Models with curves are converted to lines when exported in STL format.
To remove the visibility of lines, the model must be exported in higher resolution from the modeling program (CAD).

Have a look at my models on Printables.com 😉
