Top layer print is rough (especially around corners)
Hi all,
I am having no luck printing this Pac-Man ghost. As you can see, it's quite rough around the edges on the top blue layer. Also, I have a couple of corners around the white that could be improved. Any suggestions on fixing this? Thanks for your help.
Printer: MK3S+
Filament: Overture Matte PLA
Nozzle: 40mm

Thanks for the quick reply!
Please let me know if you're unable to access this link for the 3mf file. Thanks!
Those surface artefacts should be easy to sand off.
Please show us the underside of your print - I suspect some first layer adhesion or warping issue may be contributing.

no issue on the underside. all smooth which is why I usually print upside down. Unfortunately, I can't do the same for this since it would require supports and potentially cause more imperfections.
I've tried sanding, but it ruins the finish (causing the white scuff marks). I'm trying to understand why most of the layer looks good aside from the edges where you see the striations and rough edges. This is consistent regardless of the type of filament (does the same with Hatchbox PLA too).
no issue on the underside.
Humour us. The underside can tell us a lot.

here you are. the lighter color you see at the top left edges is a reflection from the overhead light. I use a glue stick for my first layers and it tends to reflect. But it feels really smooth and the edges are nice and sharp.
