Support problems.

Hi, everyone I've got a mki3s+. Problem I have are supports, I can't get them off looks like there is no gap between print and supports. Im  using the prusa slicer, I did use auto supports. Also this is my first prusa so the prusa slicer is new to me as well as I use cura with my other printers. If anyone have ideas of making better supports I would be grateful.  Thank you

RE: Support problems.

The default support profile prints with .1mm separation between the support and the object.   you could try .2mm which is considered detachable.

it might help folks on here to zip up your .3mf file and attach it here so we could see your settings.

RE: Support problems.

a .3mf is made up of 4 things.

The model(s) you are printing.

The print settings,  Defines speeds, infill, extrusion widths, layer heights, etc.

The filament settings, Defines temperatures, fan speeds, etc.

The printer profile,  Defines the defaults for many things and the physical limits of the printer.

So zipping up the .3mf file allows folks on here to load up your file and see what you are trying to print and how.  It often reduces the amount of time it takes to solve your problem.

lol - to be a smart arse --- If you are printing with "defaults" then you don't have supports turned on and thus can't have the problem you are complaining about.

So yes, the project file can be important. lol.

Hi, this is my first time on here. All I was asking was for help. Not sarcastic remarks. People say prusa have a great support forum, I'm a newbie at 3d printing so if I showed any negatively it wasn't meant that way, it's just lack of experience on my part. Yes I should of stated I'm new to 3d printing. But everyone starts somewhere.

Simon,  No worries, we definitely all did start somewhere.  I only started back in Nov.

But definitely in order for us to be helpful we'll usually ask for the zipped .3mf file or at least pictures of the issue you're seeing.

Ditto on the no worries mates.  It's why I included a few lols - I hope they weren't missed.

Those of us that spend time on these forums answer questions from all corners of the globe and with all sorts of complexity. Asking for the project file just makes helping easier, and it's becoming de rigueur.  Plus, most people asking for help say they are using the basic settings or defaults and when you dig into the problem for an hour or two you find they aren't using standard settings at all; and a setting they changed thinking is was insignificant isn't. So asking for the project is clean, simple and effective.

The support defaults in Prusaslicer are suboptimal, as you have discovered. I have found these settings to result in supports that are much easier to remove:

0.25mm z distance
3mm pattern spacing
4 interface layers
75% xy distance
0.2mm interface layer spacing

Thank you all for your replies and advise, I will definitely use the settings fuchsr has sent me. In future I will send a .3mf of the profile I'm using. Happy printing.
