Print other Items

Hi Guys!

I hope somebody can help me.

I just assembled my MK3 printer and went successful with demo print from SD card.

After that i downloaded some STL files from prusaprinters.org which mostly all struggle and faile while printing (filament get distorted...).

My question is what would be the  buttons to look for to adjust "foreign" files (what to edit with slicer) to tweak them to work with my MK3.

Thank you!

RE: Print other Items

Can you post a photo and a link to one item you are trying to print?  This is way too vague.

Pictures of the failed prints would help us diagnose the problem.  Show the first layer, or at least the bottom of a print as well.

The most likely cause; I admit I am guessing here, is a poorly adjusted first layer Z, or a dirty print surface.

There is no point and click option to print everything.  3D printing requires an investment of time and some basic skills be learned.

I'd start by reading the handbook that comes with every Prusa printer.

3D printing is a learned are not too different from medicine.  You have to get a feel for the printer's nature and rise the science of the material and engineering of the machine to get it right.  You have to learn to get the feel for the first layer as lays down.  Sure you are using your eyes and listening to the machine, but it is very much a feeling or gestalt.

Throw a leach on it, you'll be fine, a good blood letting goes along way. 😉

Black Knight: NONE SHALL PASS.
Arthur: (taken aback) What?
Black Knight: NONE SHALL PASS.
Arthur: I have no quarrel with you, good sir knight, but I must cross
              this bridge.
Black Knight: THEN YOU SHALL DIE.
Arthur: I *command* you, as king of the Britons, to stand aside.
Black Knight: I MOVE FOR NO MAN.
Arthur: So be it! (draws sword)

A short battle ensues, where Arthur, relatively unencumbered by armor, easily
dodges the slow and heavy strikes by the black knight. Finally, Arthur
dodges a strike, steps aside, and cuts the black knight's left arm off with
his sword. Blood spurts from the knight's open shoulder.

Arthur: Now stand aside, worthy adversary.
Black Knight: 'Tis but a scratch.
Arthur: A SCRATCH? Your arm's off!
Black Knight: No it isn't!
Arthur: Well what's that then? (pointing to the arm lying on the ground)
Black Knight: I've had worse.
Arthur: You LIAR!
Black Knight: Come on, you pansy!

Leaches came back for a while.  Now they are out of vogue again.

At the risk of going off topic... I thought Americans generally didn't appreciate Monty Python!

That would be a gross misrepresentation and over generalization.  I am not offended so don’t take it that way.

I am British by heart from all four grandparents.  The sense of humor is dry and somewhat sarcastic.  I get it and love it.  I watch all of the Monty Python movies and skits as a student in college.  I continue to share it with my wife and son.

For many Americans, it is an acquired taste, but I get it.  Our humor is more sarcastic, but very similar.

I've had the DVD collection for years. Monty Python is quite popular in the US. Not everybody's taste, but we have a lot of people, so the numbers add up.

I spent the majority of my youth in the UK.  While I'm not a brit I do feel I like I was there in the right years to absorb all the best parts of British culture, and that includes Monty python 🙂

The one exchange that really made an impact is the Python query about the airspeed of a certain swallow... It hammered home the old point: "Details matter!"
