Stringing
Hi, I've been printing a few things since i mounted the printer and playing around with several materials (PLA, ABS, PETG, Flex), i also change the nozzle once and now i have far more stringing than before
It's not extreme but it's annoying since i had very little a few days ago
I've don several checks to see if everything it's correct (using PLA):
- I though that i may be using the configuration of the wrong material but after second check it and generation the gcode again i confirmed the config was correct
- Retraction. I turned it off to print with flex saving a new profile for it, i've checked that i'm using the standar one, 0.8 retraccion at 35mm speed
- Temperature. I'm using the same temperatures i were using, 60º Celsius in bed and 200º for BQ PLA and 215 Prusament PLA, this temperatures used to work as a charm a few days ago
Not sure what should i do... more retraction? decrease temperature little (maybe the new nozzle get a bit hotter than the previous one)?
Any help would be appreciated, thanks! 🙂
RE: Stringing
Forgot to mention that the filaments i'm using are stored in a closed box with plenty of anti humidity bags and the prusament PLA is new and has being working fine, BQ PLA is a bit older but seems to be fine although just in case i follow a procedure to keep it in the oven a few hours at 50º Celsius to remove any moisture also with a humidity detector in the box and it detects nothing
Anyway my area it's not know for humidity and Prusament PLA is new so i have discarted this as a possible cause

RE: Stringing
I noticed you changed the nozzle.... did you check to make sure you did not unscrew the heatbreak from the heatsink, and did you hot-tighten the nozzle?

mmm i would like to say i didn't but just in case i'll check it.. Thanks! I'll keep you posted 👍 👍

Lift Z (thats z-hop, right?) it's at it's default value on Slicer PE, 0.6mm, i'll give a try disabling it. Thanks!
RE: Stringing
I'm doing several test, first of all i'm doing a first layer calibration and i have found that it's not doing well... so i've doing a live adjust but still nothing, really ugly with too much plastic and errors...
So, first i saw the fan is not active even though i have it configured for always on, i've check it does not work on first layer, is that normal? I'm guessing it is since it starts working after the first layer and i'm using slicerPE
Second i tried to reduce the flow... and .95 is sown in the screen as the actual flow, but in slicer i have 1, not sure why the difference... any way i reduce it to 0.85 and i got a perfect first layer (using prusament PLA)... is it normal? does it make sense?
I'm slicing now a file with 0.85 configured for prusament PLA in SlicerPE to check if it makes the trick...
RE: Stringing
Flow, and extrusion multiplier are totally different. The Filament tab is where you can change the extrusion multiplier, the Printer Settings tab>Custom G Code is where you can change your flow. PR sets it to 95% flow, 1.0 multiplier "out-of-the-box"

Thanks ! That was quick! 🙂
I'm not sure if i see the difference between flow and multiplier... :-/
I Changed the multiplier and i'm printing something, i'll let it finish and repeat changing the flow and compare but i'm not sure where i have to change it... i'm guessing it's the "Start G-Code" Section and change "M221 S{if layer_height<0.075}100{else}95{endif} " to "M221 S{if layer_height<0.075}100{else}85{endif}"?
Does it makes sense that i have to modify flow or i may be doing something wrong? Thanks Again!
RE: Stringing
Yes, you have that correct. IMO If you don't plan on printing down to 75 microns, you can just set it as: M221 S85.... or whatever flow percentage you like

Great! Thanks, i'll try right away 🙂
Usually i print 0.2 or 0.1 but sometime i have print something with 0.05
