Annoying I know - but is there any reason why you cant print it on its back  (like the photo views)

when I print on its back, face down - pic #2 (that's actually the side which will be visible), I get the results shown in the first pic which is the worst result.  with it standing on a long edge I get the last 2 pics,  the issues shown in #3 are tolerable since that won't be seen but the small side edge (last pic) is visible.  the opposite small side wall comes out perfect.  it appears its an issue with which overhang gets printed first.  on the bottom overhang the first layer printed is interior so while it is also ugly you don't see it.  however on the 'top' overhang the first layer is visible so now you see it.

since it appears to just be the first layer its likely I can use a combination of sanding & some Bondo to create a smooth finish if i have to.  however, I also have 12 other slats to print, all which are twice the size of these small ones. A print solution would be preferably & save a lot of time and at 11 hrs/print i don't want to use them as test case.  the small ones take 7 hrs by themselves

Pic 2 looks ok to me but you could print in two parts and snap/glue together using locking pins or recesses?

the issue with pic 2 is that while it did print perfect that's the side you'll never see.  here's what the visible side looks like.  not sure I see how splitting in to two solves anything? the side

I presume the recessed holes in the above picture are for some sort of fastener?,

What about printing an insert for the (Excuse my description) ramp down that would say clip in to two openings or a lip at the bottom of the ramp, and be held by the fastener at the top. This could even be printed in a contrasting colour and since the facing side would be printed facing down ,it would be smooth or textured depending on your print surface, if it were only 1 or 2 layers thick, it should not detract from the overall design.

Normal people believe that if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Engineers believe that if it ain’t broke, it doesn’t have enough features yet.

hmmm .... printing a 1 or 2 layer 'insert' that i could epoxy over that part would probably work - but this assumes i know how to create a 3D object in STI which I currently don't -- I'm just a dumb printer user at this point .... :).  if that's really the only viable solution I'll probably try my sanding/Bondo cunning plan first as I know I can accomplish that ....

If you can’t modify the part you can split it into two in the slicer. That will give you more options for printing and orientation.

Understood but I do t understand how that would help given where the overhang issues are
