Slicer pe troubles with exporting big models

I cant for the life of me get Slic3r PE 1.4.0 to export the birdfeeder model located at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:359618/files . I can use the preview tool to see the slices, so that part is good, its just the export part that hangs. I have been waiting 3 hours now.

Any one have any experience with exporting complex models like these?

I posted this on the wrong forum, I actually have a MK3

Re: Slicer pe troubles with exporting big models

I just gave it a try and it worked fine. Sliced and exported in a few minutes.

This is my setup:

  • Slic3r PE 1.40.0+ (final version)

  • Object from https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:359618/files BUT AT 90%. At 100% it does not fit into the space

  • Mac Mini Late 2012 (this is an old computer)

  • 16GB RAM

    Works ok for me too.

Sliced and saved g-code from Mac and Win with current version of Slic3r PE (v1.40.0+).
Didn't take more than a couple of minutes in either case.

    The file birdfeeder_4_0_thingiverse.STL imports with dimensions 138.26 x 220.17 x 143.25.
Doesn't need to be resized if you rotate it 90° (or 45°).

I finally figured out the problem. One or a combination of the quality options are causing the hang. When I disable all the quality slicing options, it works as normal. I think this is a bug in the slicer.
