Slic3r Not generating support for 'bridge' portion

I'm new to printing and using Slic3r and have no idea how to fix this issue. I'm trying to print this part on it's side to save time but slic3r is smarter than I am and treates the portion between the two cylinders as a 'bridge' and won't allow me to generate support for it. Is there any way to bypass this, do I just need to print it vertically no matter what, or should I use another slicer? A quick fix that I'm doing for now is to edit the file so that it's flat on that side.

i'm not sure what you are looking for. That part does not need support, and you don't want it.

Theres a small gap between the center arch and the side cylinders. Becuase it's seen as a bridge it doensn't create any support for the arch causing it to print in midair...

Did you turn on supports in slic3r?

can you attach the stl? or go to the layers view and show .2 and .4 layers?

I figured it out...I just needed to tilt the stl file slightly (0.5 deg x axis) to get it to generate. Though it kinda feels like a hack and not a proper solution... I have attach the stl file so please let me know if there's a better way.

Hi!

When you tilt your design you get steps in the flat surfaces.

I think the problem is there is not enough place for the slicer to put a support under the small gaps. I would try to print with a raft of some layers. If possible the best solution would be to cut the part in the middle, print it with the flat cutting surface on the print bed and glue both half together after printing.

If it is a part you have designed yourself you could manually put supports into the part design. See the pics below.

Design Drawing With Supports Added

Part In Slicer

Finished Part With Supports Removed (Poor Quality Due to Failing Y Axis Bearing Since Replaced)
