Simplify 3D print times way way off
Hi all,
I use S3D to print my works and lately I decided to switch to a 0.2 noozle since I usually do small detailed items.
The prints are excellent but the print extimated time are way off, even worse than before once I switched to 0.2
A 30 minutes extimate print takes around 1 hours
A 7 minutes "complex" print can go up to 31 minutes
With Slic3r this doesn't happen and it shows the more accurate extimation.
Anyone had the same problem? It's quite important to me to know the exact time, for now I solved it by slicing the item both in Slic3r for time reveal and then on S3d for the print, but if anybody managed to solve this on S3D it would be way easier

(For S3D I use the Prusa's raccomended setting, just a little tweaked for the 0.2)

yep, i have this problem ever since i use S3D and i had it with all printers i used so far (reprap, wanhao, ultimaker, trinus, etc...). It always takes more time than estimated. sometimes it is off by 10% sometimes it takes double the estimated time. I find this pretty annoying. especcially when you try to use S3D commercially!

Heck, if the printer can't accurately estimate print times, how can a piece of software?

The explanation I've read is that providing accurate time estimates requires the slicer software take acceleration into account. S3D doesn't provide a means of doing that. They've got an update underway, so perhaps that will appear in the next version.
