Random filament changes? Not model or settings?

I grabbed this design from Thingiverse, it is shown printed in one color, no mention of stopping to change filament in description.
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2038043

On the 2nd layer (printed tall with writing on bottom), the printer stopped and asked to swap filament. The only changes I made to stock Prusa PETG profile was to not print a skirt and dropped the print temps a bit for the eSun PETG I'm using. I can't even find a way to put a filament change in Slic3r PE, so I have no idea how it got there.

To try and get rid of the stoppage, I imported the design into Tinkercad and got rid of the letters, making the bottom solid. This worked for that layer, but it happened again about 20 or 30mm up.

Since I was so far into the print, I just pulled the filament and put it back in, and it looks like things are working (it's still printing).

Why/how are these filament changes appearing, and more importantly, how can I stop them from happening at all? It doesn't seem to be a setting in Slic3r PE, and it doesn't appear to be anything I've changed. By changing the design and having one go away implies it's something in the model, but I can't find out what it is.

Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Mark

ETA: My 1st few prints with this spool of eSun PETG came out fine, a pretty Benchy and a vase mode test, plus a few other small things. Since then I did the upgrade for Slic3r, perhaps that's the issue? Running Slic3r PE v1.41.0 and firmware 3.3.1

is your filament sensor turned on? maybe try turning if off. I hear is can do odd things with semi clear filaments

where you printing both parts at once?

I have a Prusa,therefore I research.
