Prusament Issues

For the first time I ordered some Prusament filament rolls.

I have a strange problem.

I print the same object a few times and each time it has the same failure.

Printed with Prusa MK3S, enclosure. Slic3er with Prusament PLA settings. Printed from SD card and with OctoPi. Same issue. Each time on the same place in te object.
Prusament PLA filament.

What is caused this?

With other, cheaper PLA, i didn’t have this issue by the same object.

RE: Prusament Issues

Is this the side toward the print sheet?

Have you tried it with Prusa Slicer?  looks like it was too low temp at first glance.  Prusament typically prints 10C higher than "regular".  Since was not sliced with a Prusa supplied filament profile, could make a diff.  Another thought - is that Oh My Gold?  Look at the settings recommended on the box.

@dan-rogers

That was my guess.  But it could also be incomplete cooling on the sheet side and more fan might help.

Thanks for the answers. Excuse me: it was sliced in prusa slicer and I used the Prusament PLA profile.

This side was indeed towards the print side and indeed Oh my Gold.

 I will try with higher temp and more fan. But because I used the Prusament profile I honestly didn’t expect issues with this settings.

 It surprises me that it is each time exactly on the same place and same size.

Don't raise the temp if you have cooling problems.  The reason I suggested temp is you originally indicated you used Slic3r - so I was wondering if the temp profile was right.  The print looks either of under-bonded or overheated.  More fan may help with overheat - but if the problem is overheat, higher temp won't make it better - so only try one thing at a time.  Another approach is bed 5 of them - helps with the overheating on small parts.  There is also a setting that helps by telling the printer to pause between layers (moves the head away, allows the part to cool)

When I started, I continued to try to fight jams with increasing the temperature.  I found over time that this can make the problem worse by increasing heat creep up into the heatbreak.  I do not do it any more.  I only extrude with a higher temp if I have a clog and I am using a tungsten rod to push the filament out the nozzle.  It if not often, but sometimes I have to resort to brute force.

It may be the far side overhang issue. Downwind of the cooling fan, overhangs get rather nasty. Slowing down the print speed is one way to deal with it - give the fan time to actually cool the filament.

Thanks for advices. I printed 5 on 1 bed. Much better. So I think overheating was indeed the problem.
It’s better but I’m not totally satisfied. Because of the rough parts at the side. Maybe this is even a cooling-heating issue?

With other PLA filament this was less present.

@ja

Definitely still have an overhang issue.  Try to slow it down a little more and turn up the fan to full.

RE: Prusament Issues

Hello, I'm new to the 3d printing scene and I'm also having troubles with this particular filament. others i have tested print fine with overhangs, bridging and more but this one keeps doing what OP has shown. it seems that its more prone to doing this when doing curved overhangs. i have tried tweaking many settings and following the advice on this thread but none of it has helped yet. printing slower and at a higher temperature seems to help a bit but not enough for a clean print.

RE: Prusament Issues

Ok so i figured it out for anyone who is referencing this thread. I increased the perimeter count to five, printing internal perimeters first, and changed External perimeter speed to 80mm/s. additionally i made the print fan always on 100% after first layer on my Prusa mini+. this fixed all my problems with this filament. i hope this helps anyone else who has this problem!
