Printing with single directional infill lines

Hey there,

I would like to print a single slab without any perimeters and a single infill line direction(vertical or horizontal only) on 100% infill. I tried changing the infill angle in PrusaSlicer 2. 1 but the problem is, it keeps on cross-stitching the infill pattern. I can get it to slice the model the way I want it to be in Cura but doesn`t seem to make it work in PrusaSlicer. Does anyone know a way of doing it?

RE: Printing with single directional infill lines

as far as I know, the nearest you can do, automatically in Prusa Slicer 2.1, is concentric infill...

every line on every layer is on top of the line below it... they are not meshed. but they are in different directions around the layer

I suppose that if the slab is a regular shape from top to bottom, you could slice the first layer then cut and paste the information the requsite number of times, changing the Z value by the layer height on every layer...

I am interested as to why you would want to do this?

Joan

@joantabb

Thank you for your reply. That is a great idea for a workaround but disabling the cross-stitching could be a nice little option if it isn't available in the current version of the PrusaSlicer since it is achievable using Cura.

I would like to do this for a research project I am currently working on. You can check out the article related to the project here: http://box5130.temp.domains/~morphin5/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/thermorph_paper2599_V10.pdf

It is a basic multi-material print that requires single directional infill lines to achieve the desired warping effect.

RE: Printing with single directional infill lines

This is something I really need to be able to do as well. The way the "infill line direction" can be set in Cura is critical to some of the effects I'm trying to achieve. I've had early success working with two materials on an Ultimaker S5 but my ultimate goal is to take the technique I'm using over to a MK3 with and MMU2 so I can take advantage of more than two materials. Unfortunately this is part of a research project in its very earliest stages so I can't reveal too much publicly about why I need it.
