RE: printing text embedded between layers
You need to set your units up properly in blender. Once you do that and save your new default then exports go out 1:1. There are YouTube vids on how to do that.

Odd, I have the scene units set to millimeters. I export stl using the 3d printing widget/toolbox after doing make manifold. I've done this with and without the apply scale option. If I open the resulting .stl with windows' 3d viewer, it's almost never the same scale. It's not a huge deal. Maybe I'll look it up.
Thanks!

Going from (lousy I'm getting old) memory here but as well as setting Length to mm you have to set the Unit Scale to 0.001000
Basically I did it by just creating a 20mm cube in blender and exporting, then checking the import was also 20mm in Slicer. Once they match its good to go so you save your current workspace as the new default (otherwise it loads your old settings back in where its not set correctly).

ah. I'll have to check that out. That's one of those things where blender reminds you it's not really designed as a CAD tool lol. Animating a ball bouncing, yeah, but designing stuff to exact measurements, not as much lol
Thanks!

but the price is right! and it's what I learned 3d animation on. I should probably consider trying FreeCAD again
