Printing ABS without damaging the bed
Hi,
I'm rather new to 3D printing but am catching up quickly. I have some ABS filament (Form Futura - TitanX) and wanted to try it. I've been using the PLA delivered with the printer so far.
So as a good started, I first googled a few things and noted some people complaining that they ruined their PEI bed by printing ABS. As my printer is rather new, I don't want to break it right away 🙂 So my question is, how can I prevent damaging the printbed when printing ABS? Should I use some tape on the bed? Or am I worried over nothing?
Thanks!

Are you sure you weren't reading about PETG? That's usually the one that binds too well to the PEI sheet and causes problems.

Don't use tape - use glue - magigoo is expensive but it's good and lasts a long time. I've been printing ABS all day, 90c bed 235C filament. Lift bed off, it cools quicker when done, when it gets to 30 or so bend twice and print pops off.

Thanks for the tips so far. I figured it couldn't be true as the manual sais nothing about it 🙂 Thanks stev-10, I'll use some glue to make sure it sticks!
Will try it tomorrow evening!

I use "Magigoo PA" for Nylon and Dimafix for ABS. Dimafix is working fine for me on the original Prusa pei sheet. For Nylon is use another sheet with Magigoo:

Be very careful with the gold TXT PEI sheets. If the sheet is still warm, you will end with some gold in your print.

Thanks for the hint. The print sticks really well.

Made a print this morning. Used glue. It went flawless 🙂 thanks for the assistance guys.
when looking at an angle at the pei bed, I do note an outline of where the print was (after cleaning with windex) but I assume that’s normal
