PETG print fail

Greetings,

I am new to the 3D printing world.  I have read so much about printing in PETG that my head spins.  I am trying to print out the parts for my enclosure but I am having the following problems.

It will not stick to the bed no matter what.  If it does it strings and globs so bad it hangs up on the nozzle and makes a constant mess.

So can anyone give me a good step by step process that will help.  Like temps and speeds and bed prep.

I did try the blue painters tape but it did not print at all.  Should the bed be heated if I use the painters tape?  Should I put windex on the painters tape.  Should the painters tape be directly on the heat bed or put on the steel removeable sheet?

Help Im at a loss....  I hope I did not get a piece of crap printer....im sure it is user error but I have tried everything I can think of.

RE: PETG print fail

The missing element is that your print bed surface is not clean enough for PETG to stick. When you transition to PETG, you should do a water and DAWN washing of the surface. There is otherwise an invisible film (even fresh from factory) that prevents adhesion. Rinse well and dry off your plate immediately. Do not touch it with your fingers lest oil transfers.

Once washed, you probably will not need another Dawn washing for a very long time. A occasion IPA wipe should be all that is needed until you print with a different type of filament. Then once, more you will probably need to wash with Dawn.

Do not use any old dishwashing detergent - definitely not one with skin moisturizer additives. We specifically recommend Dawn as a known, excellent, clean rinsing surfactant for removing residues resistant to alcohol.

RE: PETG print fail

Clean bed,

make first layer 100%.

Use glue stick if nothing helps, and with small objects, and big flat objects.

Higher temps first layer if needed, and slower.

try also different filament.

the petg prusa setting, works best for me, the temps are higher.

Normally if petg works good, use glassex or glue stick, because petg can damage the bed because of holding to good.
