PETG is collected at the nozle and drops on the print bed

When I try to print PETG it collects up at the nozle and ocasionally drops on the print bed.

 

I already tryed to tweak the standard "Generic PETG" settings in PrusaSlicer:

I also checked whether the print bed is level. Printing a full size first layer calibration pattern in PETG shows the problem. Doing the same in PLA works just fine. So I think the print bed is ok.

Any ideas how to resolve this?

From your photo, it looks like there’s filament leaking from above the nozzle. Not sure why this wouldn’t show up on PLA as well.

Did you recently do a nozzle change? Nozzle, heat-break, and heater block need to be installed per specs or you will have leaks somewhere in the hot-end.

I tried to increase the gap above the nozzle. That was clearly the wrong thing to do. The printer started to leak filament all over the place. Now the wohle lower part is covered in filament, which was not the case before.

I ended up replacing the whole hotend 😕.

Oops, yes.

It's the gap between the heater block and the heatbreak that matters; it shouldn't exist.  When properly seated this means the nozzle thread is just long enough that when it too is properly seated there is a tiny gap left visible ...

On the plus side you have a hotend which you can clean up as a spare.

I certainly wasn’t suggesting that you simply loosen the nozzle to create the gap. I thought the photo and link from my original post made that clear?

I try to provide clear and reasonable suggestions when I post here. If I missed the mark with my original post, please let me know what I could have done differently. I’d hate to think that I gave you bad information and caused you more pain.
