PETG Curls at ends

This issue only occurs when I utilize PETG. The ends of each line being printed tend to be pulled upwards when the hotend heads the other direction before allowing the plastic to lay flat. <--- hope I made since about that. Anyhow what setting can I adjust to slow that specific issue not the whole print itself?

PETG works best with a slightly higher Live-Z setting than PLA. PETG is very sticky, and is just as happy to stick to the nozzle as the bed. You're likely seeing the nozzle pull some away on direction changes. Less Squish helps it stay on the bed. Some folks swear by raising Live-Z 0.2mm, but even 0.02mm seems to make the difference for me. All depends on how close you have your Live-Z set to start with.

You can try slowing down your 1st layer print speed in Slic3rPE under the print profile Speed settings.

I always get this if my bed isn't clean enough. I've never found adjusting live Z to help as much as a fresh clean of the bed with hot water & dish soap, and then windex as a separating agent.

After that my first layer ends stick a charm.

Hard to tell from your photo, but you may also want to *lower* (or at least check) your liveZ, it appears your infill is not touching your perimeters because it's not squished enough, even on the far right where it's not curling.

Re: PETG Curls at ends

I had this problem all the time on my earlier printers without a heated bed. PETG on BuildTak would curl no matter what I did. But with the MK3S, I get perfect PETG prints as long as I clean the bed thoroughly (and use glass cleaner on the PEI). I haven't needed to change Live Z.

Well I changed a few settings in Slicr3r and getting the results that you see below. Looks like it fixed both the curling and the perimeter issue. This however added 1hr to print time so i will have to tweek it some more to get better results without adding so much more print time.

Changes made:
advanced- Infill/perimeters overlap: 50%
Speed - Infill 40
Speed - Solid infill 40

Use glue. This happens to me when the material is still to soft when the nozzle suddenly changes direction, pulling the material with it. The glue helps the PETG to stick better when soft, as well as easier to remove after the the print is done.

If you don´t want to use glue, I would try with the print fan set to on even at the first layer.

This is a misconception. Glue is a separating agent to keep the PETG from sticking too well to the bed and damaging the PEI (windex is a better, less messy choice). If you need to use glue to get it to stick in the first place, your bed is dirty and needs cleaning.
