PETG confusion
So, normally I print in PLA, sometimes ABS, and PETG. So opened a new box of Amazon basics PETG, and when it printed my part, I repeatedly get areas (not first layer) where the material simply crumbles and seems to raise up, living bits everywhere. its not stringy, its crumbly. Do I have some bad PETG? I'm using default material settings. I tried raising up the z height a little, and playing with temps, but does it every time in random places. It also looks "Dry" when it prints instead of melty like I'd expect. Thoughts?

-that's most probably because it's not dry -interesting words play 😋 .
Before you start making any adjustments in slicer, dry your filament (being a new spool means nothing).

Hmm. Been 3d printing for almost 10 years. Never needed to dry filament. Certainly could be a factor I suppose but PETG less hygroscopic than PLA.
PETG is more hygroscopic than PLA -that is, it absorbs moisture faster than PLA.
As mentioned elsewhere, it depends on (climate, etc.) where we live. From my experience (in central Europe), I can have PLA on spool holder for few months and it still prints (kinda) good enough. Not so with PETG -here I can see the drop of the print quality after 1-2 weeks.
In my opinion, for those who use PETG, a dryer is a must have. I use food dehydrator (about 40€) and it serves me perfectly.
