NEW User: "G-code sliced for a different printer type? Continue YES / NO"

Hi all,

It is my first post here. It is my first Prusa printer MK3S (second hand because my pocket was limited). Also it is my first try to print.

Unfortunately I get that message "G-code sliced for a different printer type? Continue YES / NO".

I checked printer Firmware and there was a new one that I updated.

After that I sliced the piece again and a have to a new .gcode file.

However the same message again.

I have not found so far any other idea about how to fix this.

Kind regards,

fjherna1

RE:

2 possible solutions: you flashed the wrong firmware or you use the wrong slicer profile.

Which firmware did you use? What kind of MK3 did you buy. There is a difference in sensors between MK3S and MK3S+. If the previous owner bought a MK3S and later did the upgrade to MK3S+ it became a different printer needing a different firmware.
Check the color of the lower plastic end of the PINDA sensor on your extruder. If it's grey it's a PINDA and you have a MK3S, if it's black it's a SuperPINDA and you have a MK3S+.

Or you might just have picked the wrong slicer profile for the printer. Which one did you use?

Have you chosen the correct printer in Prusa slicer configuration?

If you have the wrong profile, you will get this message

While Robin is of course right that the Mk3S and the Mk3S+ have different PINDA sensors, they actually use the same "Original Prusa Mk3S & Mk3S+" profie in Prusaslicer. Make sure that's the one you selected.

As a new user you also want to get into the habit of including a 3mf project file if you have a question.  A 3mf file contains your STL but most importantly also ALL your settings. So with that information available, you're more likely to get good answers grounded in data, not assumptions. In this particular case, it would be make it trivial to confirm that you're indeed using the right profile.

In PrusaSlicer, go to File/Save project as, to create the 3mf file. Zip-compress it to turn it into a .zip file (right-click Compress on Mac and Win11, right-click Send to/Compress on Win 10). Attach the zipped file a post on this forum using Attach file below the text edit box. It has to be a zip file, or the forum software will silently reject it ☹️

Thanks for your reply,

Like a newbie I am totally stupid.

🙂

I selected MK3 instead of MK3S

🙂

That was simply the reason.

Now it is working perfectly.

better to ask, than to struggle and be unhappy...

We were all newbies at some time!
