Need some help with this part. Designed it but it breaks and a lot of strains(see pictures)

Hi

I designed this piece to hold paper in Fusion 360.  After 7 hours this was the result. How can that be avoided.  I never print that high 21 CM

The biggest problem is that it breaks see picture. It's printed with PLA and the vertical pieces have to be flexible to hold a bigger piece

Thanks for your help. The strains I could remove but I prefer to print without.

Thanks for your tip

The "strains" are a sign that your filament is wet and should be dried.

It breaks because PLA has not the best layer adhesion and there is a lot of force on this small cross-section. You can add material to this weak point in your construction to stiffen it up or use other materials like PETG, PP or PA.

@lichtjaeger

Hi and thanks.  This pla is new and out of the package. I will check this later after a few days. But is it perhaps also the setting.

I already had some doubt as I only draw small parts that need to be stiff. If I put reinforcement in the corner the design is gone so PLA is not ok for this😔🤔

That is usually caused by one or both of:  Damp filament - look for threads here about drying, or too high printing temperature.

PLA is one of the stiffest filaments commmonly printed.   You shouldn't need to use Flex for that part, PETG should be flexibe enough.

Cheerio,
