MK3 quality where areas are supported
Hello,
I just got my MK3 and have been testing out prints on it. So far we are happy with it but have a concern that we are not using it right because the underside has a much lower quality than the areas on top of the print with no supports. We purchased an already assembled and tested machine.
Image one is on the Support Material
Image Two is front the top which looks awesome
Image Three is from the bottom where I have the printing quality issues.
Thanks!
Re: MK3 quality where areas are supported
That doesn't look too bad at all if it was printed on supports, that is definitely a very tough shape to print perfectly. Essentially you've discovered (one of) the achilles' heel of FDM printing.
all slicers will have some options like "dense support" or "separation layers". denser supports and/or less separation will mean a better layer technically, but will be much harder to remove resulting in (potentially) a worse surface finish from removing the supports.
your other options:
-Filler primer and good old sandpaper
-trying to to print in a different orientation to move the supported surface to a less noticeable side
-slicing the model apart and printing in pieces.
