Mixed print with PETG and TPU

Hi,

I want to print a case for my mobile. The back should be PETG and the sides in TPU. I want to print it in one go, rather than glueing it together.

Adding a color change does not allow me to change the setting for different filament type. The filament type and thus all settings associated to it seem to be global for a print.

Can I get this to work somehow?

Thanks

Mike

RE: Mixed print with PETG and TPU

After doing more research, it seems there is no easy way to mix different base types of filament in one print .

I had a look at the G-code and maybe it would be possible to manipulate the code to change the printer settings mids print while changing the filament .

But I wish there was an easier way. Material compounds are base to good product design and would be great to be able to print easily.

I am tempted to issue a change request.

Maybe someone can explain upfront, why it is either already achievable or extremely complicated to implement, so it is not worthwhile writing a CR.

Thanks

Mike

With an XL it's straightforward, with an MMU it's doable but tricky...

If you only have a Mk3 it's *just* possible but a huge chore ... the basic method is in these two threads:

Cheerio,
