RE: Layer shifting problem

I just started the block print with the same settings as the wall..will be done in a little over an hour.

I just applied the caliper to the wall that just finished (same problem, by the way).  I found it's shrinking in its length by about 0.020"from the bottom of the wall to the top of the window openings.  Then at the bottom of the header beam, it's back to the same length as the bottom of the wall.  It looks like the support material in the window openings is allowing the end columns to lean in toward the center of the wall slightly during printing.

Any thoughts on how I could alter the support settings to prevent this?

No, look at my last post.  It provides some new information that might help in troubleshooting the problem.  It looks like it's actually a support issue.

Yes, I think it's going to work. The block finished before I could stop it and it printed fine.  I'll report back tomorrow on the success of this version of the wall.

I'm comparing the file you sent with the one I sent to you and don't see any differences.  What did you change?

I didn't run it yet as I saw no differences between the 3mf files.  A print takes about 6.5 hours and a fair amount of filament so I wanted to make sure I could identify a difference in the sliced file before I did another run.

I already know that won't work as the brick detail won't print right.  I've already tried it with another wall.  I don't think there's enough relief in the bricks for it to work.  That's why I print them vertical.  I've got another idea I'm going to try, placing some horizontal reinforcers in the window openings to see if that solves the problem.  I'll report back late tomorrow.  I've got a 15 hour wall printing right now.

Thanks

I'm building an HO scale (1/87) model of a 27 stall roundhouse for my model railroad.

Here's a snapshot of the model so far.  I model the core of the walls in FreeCAD and add the brick using OpenSCAD.  The side walls are in three sections and the 15 hour wall that's currently printing is the one on you can see the inside of on the side of the extended stall at the right.  Stall 1 is on the left.  I've successfully printed all the front walls, the side walls for stall 1 and the back walls for stalls 1 through 20.  I've also printed all the floor sections and pits and the dividing walls at stalls 7 and 15.  I've also started printing glass block windows with clear PLA that I'm pretty satisfied with.

The structure will occupy a area of about 4 feet square in the middle of my layout room.  It's modeled after the roundhouse that stood in Laramie, Wyoming on the Union Pacific Railroad up until the early 1960s.  my modeling period in 1953.

Cool I think if you turn on 45 degree angle and put supports like you said it should work
