Layer adhesion problems with eSUN ABS+

I've fussed with all kinds of settings: nozzle temperature, various speeds, fan, acceleration, line overlap, etc. I can make very pretty parts with the eSUN ABS+, but they're all incredibly weak in bending and tension. The layer-to-layer adhesion is awful, and my PLA parts are more structurally sound.

When I crush, bend, or pull apart a printed component, it always comes apart at a layer boundary with surprisingly little force. There's very little stress-induced discoloration of the surfaces, indicating that there was limited adhesion to distribute strain.

I've tried nozzle temperatures as high as 270 Celsius. I've tried the full range of fan settings. Interestingly, low fan parts are actually a bit worse as the more-acute warping and layer shrinkage seems to reduce layer bond area and strength.

Has anyone made strong parts out of this material?

I think I've solved this. It looks like linear advance - which is apparently on by default, even on profiles that don't call it out - is tremendously destructive in this material.

How did linear advance affect your prints?

It seemed fairly similar to under-extrusion - small adhesion surfaces between layers, modestly cut corners, gaps in walls every now and then. The whole print was just really brittle, always at layer boundaries. Turning it off seemed to help with the surface area between layers, especially at corners. Single wall prints are coming out true to stated wall thickness. Top layers are pretty. Layers are sticking.
