I can see the individual filament lines on the first layer with PETG

I can't seem to get the perfect first layer on prints, especially with PETG on the textured sheet.

I see the individual lines from each row of filament. The layer is fused but it looks like there is just a bit of space between each row at the interface between the filament and the sheet.  I'm aiming for the perfect textured finish like on the front of the printer.

Should I drop the head just a bit more, increase extrusion a bit more, or bump up the temp a bit more?

Without photos impossible to know how close to or far away you are from the perfect first layer. But of the options you mentioned, going lower should be enough to get you good results. Adjusting extrusion or temps all have their place but shouldn't be required to get a nice first layer.

I would make a cube that's 75 or 100mm square and .2mm high.  This is basically the life z adjust method.  print the square and lower your z until the square peels off at the end in one piece.  If you frequently change filaments, you should set up steel sheet profiles so that this ideal z-Offset can be stored and you can quickly switch to the right filament+sheet profile you need, i.e. profile "Spetg" for Satin sheet and PETG filament.  the only downside is that you have a limit of I think 7 profiles.   When the z is adjusted, it's saved to the active sheet profile.

Here's how to create the profiles

I meant to mention that you'll usually have to adjust your z when switching between say PLA, PETG and TPU on the same sheet.  This is where the separate profiles come in really handy.

As ssill2 said, different sheets will definitely require different live z, and often switching between filament types may require live Z adjustment as well. Having said that, I usually found my PLA based leveling work just fine with PETG. Maybe because I tend to err a bit on the more positive side of live z values, and PETG tends to be okay with it.

I've even had some translucent PETG that required tweaking the z slightly from my normal PETG offset..  I'm quite curious how the XL is going to figure this out lol   I guess we'll see.
