How to print alternating color layers using MMU?

Hi all. I am a first time poster so please be gentle 🙂

I have an i3 MK3 with an MMU

I have a file that I did not create. I am using the PrusaSlicer and I want to print different layers at different colors.  I know how to do this w/o using the MMU in the PrusaSlicer. But it seems there must be a way to do it using the MMU.

Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance

You can do it manually in Single-mode or need the 2.2.0 version of PrusaSlicer (currently in beta).

Not currently. The 2.2 pre-release supports using the MMU to insert colour changes at certain layers.

Thanks for your replies. I knew I could do it manually but really wanted to avoid that. I'll wait for the new release.

Thanks again.

Hi Henry,

I'm just wondering if you downloaded a new firmware for the printer as well. In my case it did not work - I just downloaded the pruca slicer 2.2.0 beta - I believe they are using new M-function which a older version does not understand or just ignores and in my case only used filament 1 not like I have choosen 2 others.

if you can imagine it - if you can design it - you should print it!

I found my mistake or the mistake of the Beta slicer. Once you tick wipe into this object - it does everything with colour no.1. The good thing is what you see (at the pruca slicer) is what you get.

I think the issue is your print. There's no area to wipe into; the Z height of the colour change does not correspond to any available infill volume that can be used to wipe... Unless you expect your nozzle to punch into the print and fill it with purge like a jelly doughnut... 😛

Hi vintagepc,

In my case it would not matter you would hardly recognize.

The beta version does have to options:

first is "wipe into this object's infill" and

2nd is "wipe into this object

if you can imagine it - if you can design it - you should print it!
