How to fix string texture?

Hi I tried printing a box and it keeps making a weird texture. How do i fix it?

I have prusa I3 mk3s+ printer.

I don't think the problem is from the file because everyone seem to make it fine.

Link for the file below. it was the basic octagon box

Thanks.

As @Diem notes, that design is going to be a challenge for 3D printing. If you slice the base and view in in preview mode, you'll see that the perimeters on that stepped ledge stick out with nothing underneath for support. They are literally printing in air. That's why you're getting that stringy mess along the edges.

Unfortunately, the designer didn't provide any instructions for HOW to print it on Thingiverse. Overhangs like that will require supports. Ideally, the design would be modified to use chamfers (angled walls) on the underside to eliminate the need for supports (try Print Settings->Support material->Support material->Generate support material and Auto generated supports to start).

That box was not designed for easy 3d printing, it has overhangs all round the base.  To print it as published you will need to use supports.

I suggest you first enable "Support on build plate only".  Do not do this for the lid part as it will fill in the decoration.

It would be better to rework the model with chamfered bottom-edges to the base.

Cheerio,
