Help with my Prints
After 4 prints that were very good, I have problems with each print. It starts at the beginning that whenever the nozzle rises there is no closure and material collects at this point. New calibrated and first layer adjusted.
There are also problems with the supports at the bottom.
Thanks 4 your help
RE: Help with my Prints
i am printing with PLA ultra fine or 0.20 no change....
RE: Help with my Prints
Not quite sure what you mean by closure. You can try to bump up retraction distance if you see material oozing out whenever the nozzle lifts to go to another area. Be sure to clean your bed before printing as well if you find the filament it just laid down is coming off.
Did you change anything after your first 4 good prints? Change in filament, temperature, or slicing adjustments?
RE: Help with my Prints
I bet those spots where its lifting are where the plate has been touched. Clean the plate at the sink with plain dish soar and clean paper towels. Rinse with lots of HOT water and dry with more paper towels. That's it. No ipa or anything else. Then don't touch the sheet, handle only by the edges.
Finger oils are the bane of adhesion with PEI.
RE: Help with my Prints
IPA is the recommended method for bed preparation https://help.prusa3d.com/en/article/first-layer-issues_1804 . Whist different dish soap manufacturers will have different additives like fragrances or additional surfactants, your IPA is just alcohol and water (plus trace impurities in negligible amounts).
Wash with soap method is preferred when you have difficulty wiping the surface clean with IPA, e.g. when you have PVA or Windex on the plate.
RE: Help with my Prints
IPA may be the 'advised' method but talk to any of the long term users here and they will all tell you the same thing. Plain dish soap (notice I stated originally plain so no fragrances etc) works loads better than IPA. I'll let Tim give you the scientific reasons behind it but it WORKS. I bought 2 litres of 99.9% IPA 2 years ago, I've still got 95% of it left and what little I have used was not on cleaning my print sheets.
RE: Help with my Prints
That is curious, prusa runs a 1000+ printer farm basically 24/7 for years now and they've been only cleaning their beds with IPA (it was in that vid they did about printing PPEs for czech ministry of health). Might have to do with how they wipe it or what they wipe it with, warrants some investigation.
RE: Help with my Prints
Please correct me if I'm wrong but doesnt the prusa print farm print PETG on the textured sheets ?
With the smooth sheet such as the original poster is using, printing PETG needs an adhesion barrier generally as the petg can stick too well. In that circumstance the finger oils can actually be a benefit as they act as that barrier.
On the TEXTURED sheet petg releases fine and sticks fine, and yes using dish soap and water isn't recommended for those as the textured sheet has micro holes in it that expose the underlying steel of the sheet. Moisture in there can lead to rust forming if not thoroughly dried out. Something that wouldn't be very efficient in a production environment. Which is why a quick wipe with IPA at the farm is ok.
The problem the OP is having is printing PLA on the smooth sheet. In this case the soap and water works better. Its amazing just how many people don't believe it at first until they try it. Just read the many threads on here. Or just try it.
RE: Help with my Prints
I think both but predominantly textured sheets (they would of needed to run the smooth sheets to test it out). Good info on the textured sheets.
I tend to stick with what the manufacturer advises since they have the most experience with their products. Wouldn't hurt to try both.

@print-my-world
thank you 4 your help, will try to bump up retraction distance....
I am cleaning with IPA every time......
The only thing i have changed ist the color of PLA from grey to black to blue und then yellow and with yellow everything started getting bad.
And now with all the colors....
RE: Help with my Prints
@neophyl
i clean with IPA like recommended
RE: Help with my Prints
this one i printed between and not to bad, but the next one same story....
the test print looks good, but the prints are not....
RE: Help with my Prints
Hi Pablo,
If you find that adjusting retractions, and wiping with IPA, still don't work,
It won't cost you anything extra to try the dish soap option. As advised in the Prusa Maintenance knowledgebase...
Once you have tried it, if it doesn't work for you, you can continue discounting the suggestion.
you could also try raising the Bed temperature to 70C for PLA,
Your printer your choice...
Personally I don't enjoy poor prints and I investigate ways of resolving issues as a more fruitful process...

PEI print surface preparation
PEI can lose its adhesive powers after a couple of hundred hours. You can wash it with soap/dish soap and water; remember to wipe it dry afterward! You can find more information on how to prepare the surface in First layer issues.

Cheers Pablo,
Please use Plain paper towels to dry the build plate, to ensure that you are not getting any contaminants off the towel...

I do believe that a soap and water wash (with nothing else) was helpful, still i think my nuzzle is not yet perfect adjusted.
THANK YOU ALL 4 YOUR HELP
